An entry on Line 8b has no effect on the Total Tax on Line 60. What reason does the IRS have to want/need to know this information?

how does it work for us self employed people?

My 21 year old daughter moved back home to live with her mother. (my EX) the terms of the arrangement, was for the 21 year old to get enrolled in College if she wants to live back at home! She applied for FASFA and used me as her custodial parent ???? ! I am retired from the Navy and I dont receive a W-2 form ! I do however file taxes even though i don't get a refund, nor am i required too. Her mother works as a private day provider and hasn't filed taxes in 10 years, so if she were to use her tax info, I'm sure it would cause her a big problem ! But at 21 years old why does she need 1040's and W-2's from me ! Isn't she considered an adult ? I cant accommodate her needs so her and her mother are now mad at me ! (The EX is normal) I actually have a FASFA account so i gave her my password and pin # so she can give it to the college and they can do what ever they need to do ! I am not real happy that her mother is hiding taxes from the government and i wish she would get audited ! Am this going to bite me in the A$$ or what ! In order to receive a copy of my last tax return, the IRS is wanting to charge $65.00 to mail me one and would take up to 90 days. She called last night at 11 pm and needed this information the next morning for a financial aid appointment at the college at 9am. Pi$$ poor planning as i see it ! Advice ?

I used to live in TX. I have been working as a independent consultant (1099) in NJ. I am supposed to pay my quarterly tax to IRS by 09/15th. I'm staying in a hotel. Presently, I do not have residential address as I have sent my family abroad. My car plate and DL are still holding TX. What am I supposed to put as residential address in 1040-ES? Can I put my friend's address in TX? This is my first time I work on 1099. Thanks.

and it was the school's fault. I turned in everything a month before time and they said that is all I needed to do. I knew I wouldn't get grants even though I lived on my own because my mom made too much. I asked them if everything is okay and is there anything I needed to do and they told me no I should get my loan a week before school started. I called a month before to make sure and they said everything was fine and they seem irritated that i was keep on calling but I wanted to go with no problems. I called the day before payment was due seeing that I haven't had any funds added. and they called me back before school started and said that I was chosen for random verification and I need to turn in the 1040 tax forms instead of the w2s before they can reward me any financial aid...even loans. I was thinking they could of told me a long time ago now i won't be able to go this semester because they said verification takes a while and I will be dropped for not making payments before I actually get a loan. WIll this drop be on my record or not? will it count as a drop? will it bring my gpah down?i would get dropped because I won't be able to give them the payment in time for school because I wasn't able to get the money for deadline. They could have and should have told me whenever I called all of those times

Hi Everyone, Im getting nervous. Im going to fly to Manila on Monday and have my medical exam at St. Lukes. HOpefully, ill pass the med exam. Friday next week, I'll be having my interview. I have all my docs but I got a question on the I-134 (read it here that its the crucial part). He gave me form 1040, like the one with deductions and refunds with attached shedules, but tis only a copy, like scanned copy. It has stamped like "copy do not file" Would that do? is that Ok? His 2009 tax form showed 45,697 adjusted gross income. But he only gave me his payslips for 3 pays only this year (latest) and two from last year (nov and dec 09). Would that do? or do we need all his payslips from 2009 as support to his tax form. He cant get his payslips nemore. It was emailed to him but got deleted already. On his I-134 form, his annual income is 37,440 (derived from $18/ hr job) Are we going to be ok?

A question for tentative federal job offer: I am an immigrant, for the first two years in USA, I had a very low paid job. Employer did not do the W2 form for me(you know that, in this country, a lot of legal immigrant do not have W2(besides those illegal immigrants), and I did not file 1040 form. But I put down that in my work experience, is it bother for background check? What do they do on the investigation? If they check my first two years in USA, no record will be found. I made a little cash during those two years, and I did NOT file 1040, partly because then I did not know much about the tax filing, partly because it is little cash income, for no dependent single, it makes no big different whether filing or not. Thanks.

I couldn't get it from the place where I filed my taxes because they closed after tax season.

Okay, I got myself in a mess right now with my College. I really need help on what to do. On the 2010 to 2011 Verification Worksheet, I put that my mother, "Will Not File and isn't required to file for 2009 Tax Return." On a early statement I wrote in my mother's behalf about her income, that she made income by doing "oddjobs (like babysitting, cooking for others, etc.)." The problem is, I can't get Financial Aid from the College because, the people at the school are telling me that my mother needs to file a Tax return. Since the statement I wrote, I tried to Revise the statement by saying that she didn't work at all. However, the college kept the first statement and said that I'm doing fraud and can go to prison. My mom hasn't worked for 8 years and doesn't have any type of W-2 form. The only income is the oddjobs. Before I try to make my mom fill out a "1040 Self Employment Tax Return," is there any way to get around this? I don't understand, my mother is mostly sick and can only do what she can to pay the bills. The college isn't giving me any Financial Aid because of my statement and is trying to force my mom in filing a tax return. The communication barrier is 940 miles away. My mother is back in Ohio while I go to school in Oklahoma.

I have a masachusetts resident income tax return here. Im supposed to know if I will receive a refund or I'll have to pay. My 1040 form came with a voucher, so I know how much I'll pay. But my 1040 is confusing, it doesn't say clearly "pay" or "receive"/"refund". Help please. where do I look?

The guy who did my taxes didn't do it from a 1040A or 1040EZ form, he had a program on his computer. So I am confused on how I am supposed to fill out my FAFSA tax portion without a copy of a 1040 since it is not available. Any suggestions?Lol vbj x you mind telling me the suggestion?

This is a tax question. I live in Indiana but recently started a job in Cincinnati, Ohio. I am trying to figure out if I even need to file an Ohio Income Tax Return at year end. This is information from Ohio Form IT 1040: "Who Must File an Ohio Income Tax Return? Every Ohio resident and every part-year resident (see page 10 of these instructions for a discussion of “residency”) is subject to the Ohio income tax. Every nonresident having Ohio-sourced income must also fi le. Examples of Ohio-sourced income include the following:  Wages earned in Ohio (see “Exception” below);  Ohio lottery winnings;  Income or gain from Ohio property;  Income or gain from a sole proprietorship doing business in Ohio;  Income or gain from a pass-through entity doing business in Ohio. Exception: A full-year nonresident living in a border state does not have to fi le if the nonresident’s only Ohio-sourced income is wages received from an unrelated employer." So the question comes to my mind "what is an unrelated employer"?
